it's nice to see that u are taking a satnce on what is, and should be a collective restoration of our culture, language, and working as one to reinstall ideas and lifeways that transend and benefit us as Indian people. Thank u for u'r work with the kumeyaay, "cucupa" i'm an american Cocopah and have much feeling for the traditional lifesytle that is still led on the reservations there.

Dear Stewart
Your latest piece on Straight Goods says it all in very few words about Europeans culture. We are completely blind to our biases in the way we look at the world and especially the people of this world. We do exactly what you suggest to all "others." But we can't see it for the racist, patronising crap it is.

I enjoyed your piece in Straight Goods. I wondered if you knew of an illustrated version of the Indian Act. I want to explain "institutionalized racism" to my kids. I have found the comic-books style of primers for Marx, King, Lenin, Judaism, Trotsky, and other big names useful, even if I don't agree with all of them.

there is no doubt in my mind now that henry moore was channeling natives when he sculpted...a visual treat, stewart.
as for your writings, i think you're like me and you channel yourself. don't worry, radio shack has a new device where we can unscramble our stations. naw, joking, keep it up (the writing, you fool!).

Quit teaching in the suburbs of Richmond because I needed to work harder to feel alive. I now work in 3 Surrey inner city elementary schools as a Aboriginal Cultural Enhancement Teacher. I thought of your name as I browsed through First Nations websites to find resources. I'm not sure what to teach the little ones. Maybe courage and kindness. I love your sculptures and how the lines seem to circle around the images.

Hi Stewart just read your blog... Don't know if you remember me asking you many years ago [with my typical amount of blutness] why you had made one of your sculptures of a woman blind? Remember being very annoyed with you. Well my friend nice to see that you and no doubt she are no longer blind and that you are using the gift the creator has so kindly given you to make sure that I and others are not blind to what needs to be seen. May the grandmothers always watch over you and guide your steps

I was very pleased to read about your work and the ongoing struggles for indigenous peoples in Canada. I had never realized until now how the Indian Act is based on days of colonialism. Please keep up your much appreciated work, both artistically and politically.
I cherish my little momento of your work in Summerland, BC and the opportunity to be part of the Sculpture Symposium committee.

Hi, Stewart: I had a dream of you last night & I'm sure it was a prompt .... "hope you are well" sounds so much like a cliche -- how about, "you are in my heart"? That is more like it! The passing of each season inspires confirmation of those things that never end. Cheers, Anita

Hi Stewart. Haven't had time to explore all of its' offering, but your website looks great and I hope it becomes a crucible of thought and action. Here at the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres we are currently taking Cree language lessons from Art Napoleon, and one of the interests is the development of different thinking patterns that comes from 'thinking in Cree'. Our colonized 'thinking' processes need constant attention and I welcome your site as an alternative and a place of deconstruction. Well done!
